We created this community because we have lived through the transitions, challenges, and opportunities that come with midlife—from empty nesting, to grieving through losses, to trying to figure out "what's next for me?" We know how important it is to have an inclusive, welcoming space to grow and connect with others who value reciprocal connections.

Visionary & Storyteller
Char and Sandie’s journey began on December 7, 2003, when they met at an event Char organized for a community she created. What started as friendship blossomed into a deeper connection after 20 years. Char, an introvert with a storyteller’s heart, brings over 30 years of experience in tech marketing, executive communications, and event management to Live Sapphire.
Char has served on the Redstone Technology Board, Billy DeFrank Center Board, and managed Cisco’s Small Business Advisory Board. She also led the creation of Cisco PRIDE, an employee resource group. As a single working mother, Char raised four children and is now a proud grandmother of five. She joined the Silicon Valley Rainbow Rotary (SVRR) upon moving back to Silicon Valley in 2024 and is deeply committed to the Rotary motto, "Service Above Self."
When she’s not building the Live Sapphire vision, Char enjoys exploring new ideas, spending time with Sandie, and doting on their three dogs and three cats.
Sandie Day
Creator
of Connections and Experiences
Sandie is the extrovert to Char’s introvert, bringing her boundless energy and love for people to Live Sapphire. With decades of experience in local government, events, and as a travel agent since 2011, Sandie has a gift for creating memorable experiences and fostering meaningful connections.
Sandie has served on several boards, including the Child Abuse Council, San Jose Women’s Softball League, and the Silicon Valley Rainbow Rotary (SVRR), which she cofounded. She currently serves on the boards of SVRR, My Life’s Path, and The Sandie Day Brilliant Life Foundation, an ovarian cancer charity. As a single working mother, Sandie raised four children and is now a grandmother of six.
When Sandie isn’t crafting workshops or travel adventures, she’s likely planning their next big project, enjoying the outdoors, or diving into a creative endeavor with Char by her side.
Lumi
The Heart of

Lumi is our hummingbird guide. She symbolizes joy, resilience, and the brilliance we all carry within us. With feathers in shades of blue, green, pink, and purple, she represents the journey of growth and transformation.
Lumi reminds us that even small steps can lead to extraordinary change. As the heart of Live Sapphire, Lumi encourages us to embrace our authentic selves, celebrate our journeys, and connect deeply with others.
